How to Choose the Best Dental Office for Dental Treatment Services
If you have moved to Mississauga, you may not have yet decided on which dental office to use close to your home. It is important that you don’t wait until you or your family has a dental emergency but rather register with a dental practice like Mistry Dental in Mississauga.
How do you go about choosing the best practice to suit you?
It must be someone who you are comfortable with. You should be able to talk to your dentist easily.
- Family and Friend Recommendations are a great resource. Ask questions about the personality of a dentist and his staff, what the waiting period usually is and how they handle bills and costing.
- Recommendation from a doctor or pharmacy in your new area. These people are after all in a similar profession so they will be able to advice on a Dental Office.
- Professional recommendations- Contact the Dental Association in your area for a list of practicing Dentists. Your last Dentist may also be able to advice on a practice in your new area.
Visit more than one Dental Office
It is advisable to visit more than one Dental office before making your final choice. Some of the things to consider as listed below:
- How close is the office to your home or office
- Does the office hours work for you.
- Is there often a long waiting list for appointments?
- What is their policy on emergency treatments
- Payment options. Does your Dental Office accept many types of payment options: i.e. cash, payment plans, credit cards etc.
- If you have need of a special type of Dentist discuss with the office.i.e. if this dentist often treats special needs children etc
- If you suffer from Dental Phobia or Anxieties will the Dentist work with you.
- Call and see if the Dentist is accepting new Patients. This will give you an idea on how the office is run.
- Costs can vary so it is wise to perhaps get a quote for a minor procedure like cleaning or filling. Compare these costs with other practices.
- Ask the Dental Office about the Dentists qualifications. Also request information on how they handle infection control. If they are uncomfortable answering any of these questions find another dental office.
Transfer of Dental records
Your original dental records will belong to the dentist who did the treatment. This is in terms of the provincial dentistry regulations.
You can however request that a copy of your records be sent to your new dentist. There may be a small fee involved.
Dental Schools.
A consideration particularly if you are working on a limited budget is to approach a local dental school. A list of these can be found on the Canadian Dental association website.
It is worth taking a little time and use the above points to help you with choosing your new Dentist. Remember Teeth are always in Style!
